Innova launches new grade of High Impact Polystyrene for the packaging market

 

January, 24, 2013 - Innova has just introduced the newest member of its family of products to the markets. R 770E - the new grade of high performance High Impact Polystyrene targets the sectors of disposable and transparent packaging.

The new grade was developed and patented by the Styrenics Technology Center of Innova, and is focused on applications of HIPS and GPPS blends which are typical of the packaging sector.The R 770E has advanced properties in terms of the relation between its stiffness and toughness which are superior to conventional HIPS available in the Brazilian market.

According to the company, this advantage can be translated into direct gains for customers. R 770E also presents comparatively higher levels of transparency and processability when compared to blends of HIPS and GPPS.

With this new development, Innova emphasizes its strategy of creating technological differentials that generate gains for its business partners through products that combine innovation and competitiveness.

Innova, a company fully controlled by Petrobras, is the Brazilian market leader in styrenics. With three manufacturing plants located at Triunfo Petrochemical Complex (state of Rio Grande do Sul, it is the first and only Brazilian company to integrate, in a single location, the production of ethylbenzene, styrene monomer and polystyrene. It has the capacity to produce 680,000 tons/year of petrochemical products.
