| Ceará discussing construction works to host the 2014 World Cup Round of debates discuss how to make investments in construction works that add value to the State and will be useful after the sporting event. As one of the candidate cities to host the 2014 World Cup games, Fortaleza, in Ceará start debating the local needs for investments for the event. With the sponsorship exclusive of the Instituto do PVC, the National Union of Consulting Engineering and Architecture Companies (Sinaenco) holds, this Wednesday February 11st, the round of debates, which is being held all around the country. The aim of the debates is to establish what will be the result for Brazil after the event. The choice of Brazil as the host for the 2014 football World Cup opens a series of opportunities for the companies related to construction and basic sanitation systems, since the event requires both the construction and renovation of the stadiums, and many infrastructure works in the surrounding areas, to meet the demands made by FIFA, the entity that organizes world football. Each state hosting the games will have to make great investments to receive 500,000 tourists from around the world during one month. The construction, basic sanitation, accessibility infrastructure and logistic, telecommunications and tourism are involved in the process and the question is how to make these investments be, as well as useful for the period of the games, also sustainable after the World Cup. José Roberto Bernasconi, president of Sinaenco, says that for every state, hosting the World Cup games may be an excellent opportunity for structural improvements. But, for such, planning should be made so that these works are sustainable, that is, so that after the World Cup they are useful to the population and really add value to the country. “For this to happen, it is important to that professionals in the sectors involved talk, in this moment of planning the actions,” states the president of Sinaenco, who is participating in the debates. The vinyl productive chain is one which will benefit with this scenario, since the product is the main plastic in civil construction and basic sanitation, not counting its important participation in architecture. “We should recall that of the seven stadiums built or renovated for the Germany World Cup, in 2006, five of them received vinyl covering,” stated Miguel Bahiense Neto, executive director of Instituto do PVC. When the subject is sustainability, once again vinyl is highlighted. Miguel Bahiense recalls that the product is completely inserted into the pillars of sustainability, as it helps in the preservation of natural resources; it improves quality of life for people and contributes to economic growth. He also highlights that the main raw material of vinyl is sea salt, a renewable natural resource and that vinyl may be recycled many times without losing its original properties. Up to know, the rounds of debates have passed through Salvador, Recife, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Florianópolis, Rio de Janeiro and Paraná. The event in Fortaleza will gather businessmen, as well as private and public authorities and bodies. It will focus on the improvement of sports arenas and the urban mobility of Fortaleza and the neighboring cities. More information on the site: http://www.copa2014.org.br/. |
