Braskem introduces 16 new products at Brasilplast 2011.

New PVC plant, corresponding to $ 1 billion in investment, was also one of the highlights of the fair

May, 9, 2011 - Braskem, a leading company in the Americas in the production of thermoplastic resins and the world's largest polymers producer, introduced 16 new products to the market at Brasilplast 2011. Braskem's product portfolio is gaining eight polypropylene and polyethylene products, which will bring high performance and increased productivity to customers in the automotive, food packaging, household appliances and wires and cables sectors.

The company's participation at the fair reaffirms its strong performance in the area of research and development, with increased investments in our own teams and partnerships, innovative projects and new technologies.

Another highlight of the event will be the Company's new PVC plant, located in the city of Marechal Deodoro, Alagoas State. Scheduled to come online during the first half of 2012, $ 1 billion are being invested in the industrial unit, which will have an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons, making Alagoas Latin American's largest PVC producer. The fair is an opportunity for customers to learn more about the operations of the unit as well as the division's plans for the coming years.
Technology

At its 2,000 square meter booth, Braskem bet on technology to introduce its products and communicate its success stories to its customers in interactive and innovative ways, encouraging sustainability by reducing paper usage. Customers who visited the space had access to touchscreen panels where they were able to view all of our catalogs, select content of interest to them and send that information to their personal e-mails. Moreover, the material was also available on iPads and throughout the entire booth via the network installed by Braskem. Visitors could simply access it and copy it to their computers.

POLYETHYLENES

Fuel tank solution
The HS4506 resin was developed for the production of automotive fuel systems, as well as for manufacturing filling tubes and cold-start tanks. Braskem also developed the HS4506A resin, particularly effective as an additive that ensures greater resistance to ultraviolet radiation and weather. The resin will be used to produce fuel tanks for trucks and the automotive aftermarket segment.

Innovative formula for the laminates sector
The Flexus 9212XP resin (XP = extra performance) serves the needs of the high-performance laminates market, products used in high-speed automated packaging processes. The product is a metallocene resin (mPEBDL) that provides the advantage of maintaining stable Coefficient of Friction (CoF) values. It is an innovative solution patented by Braskem and is the result of a formula capable of improving CoF stability after rolling, shipping and storage of the coils.

Quaterpolymer the refrigerators market
Considering the characteristics of the refrigerators market, Braskem developed the Pluris 6301 resin, a quaterpolymer that features better processing, sealing and stretching. These characteristics, combined with its low level of blockage and gels content make the product a great option for packaging bread.

Bimodals with Mitsubishi technology
The BU004W and BS002W resins were produced with Mitsubishi technology and offer significant advantages in terms of the performance of mechanical properties in comparison to other monomodal products.

Excellent balance between rigidity and resistance upon impact
The BS002W resin reduces the weight of blown bottles, while maintaining their stacking properties. The new resin also has excellent resistance to stress cracking, which makes it suitable for the production of bottles used to package surfactant products such as detergents, cleaners and multipurpose chemicals.

Reducing weight and maintaining stacking properties

The high density BU004W product reduces the weight of bottles and maintains their stacking properties. The special additive package also provides bottles blown with BU004 with better optical properties, resulting in whiter bottles with a better surface finish.

Good processability and excellent impact resistance at low temperature

The HS5010, APM-HDPE product, produced by means of Loop Slurry technology, provides good processability and excellent resistance to low-temperature impact. It is suitable for the blowing of drums used for packaging chemicals and pesticides.

Resin for the wire and cables segment
The TC9008 resin is Braskem's most recent release for the wire and cables segment. It is a compound based on low density polyethylene (LDPE) with carbon black pigmentation. It is suitable for coating or encasing wires and cables used in the telecommunications and energy industries. The compound provides high productivity during extrusion, finishing, a high degree of flexibility and high resistance to low temperatures, as well as protection against exposure to the elements.

POLYPROPYLENES

Rigid packaging with fluidity and impact resistance
CP 191XP is a heterophasic polypropylene copolymer that features high fluidity and high impact resistance. It was developed to meet the needs of the fast-cycle injection and thin wall parts markets. It provides greater versatility and productivity while maintaining an optimum balance of properties (rigidity and impact). This product is intended for injected ice cream packages, housewares and automotive compounds.

Innovation for the non-fabrics market

This year, Braskem's launch for the non-fabrics market is H 155, a grade that offers high flow, enabling better performance in the creation of the barrier layer obtained in the meltblown process. This grade will replace H 152 in Braskem's PP portfolio.

Compound for final application on bumpers
CP 393 is a copolymer offering high impact and very low contraction. It was developed especially for compounds whose final application is on bumpers. The addition of mineral filler leaves no gap between the plastic bumper and the metal fender.

Versatile option for the automotive industry
CP 286 is a heterophasic copolymer specially developed for the compounds  market. Its function is to maintain high impact resistance, with greater rigidity and flow. The favorable balance of mechanical properties, its high flow rate and low VOC (volatile organic compound) content make this a very versatile option for use in automotive applications such as bumpers and dashboards.

Increased productivity in the automotive market
CP 100 is a high-flow heterophasic polypropylene copolymer offering an excellent balance of rigidity and impact. Braskem's goal with this resin is to meet the automotive market's demands for higher productivity, providing greater versatility and flexibility to customers. The CP 100 resin serves key customer needs, such as low VOC (volatile organic compound) content, excellent organoleptic properties and easier injection mold filling, as well as providing an excellent balance of mechanical properties and higher productivity in molded parts.

High rigidity for the home and kitchen appliances markets
Designed for the technical parts and components markets, which require high rigidity and good processability for injection, Braskem has launched the H 201HC grade. Due to its high crystallinity and rigidity, the product provides increased thermomechanical resistance and special risk resistance, making it an excellent choice for appliances and appliance components.

Innovation for the industrial bucket market

The CP 270R resin is a heterophasic polypropylene copolymer specially designed for the injection process used to make buckets and containers, whose properties require a balance between rigidity and impact resistance. It also features a higher flow index compared to previous grades.

Greater transparency for housewares
In an effort to achieve greater transparency in housewares, Braskem has launched Prisma 1410, a random copolymer with a high flow index, developed for the injection of parts and packaging with excellent transparency. This product provides excellent processability, high productivity and a perfect balance between rigidity and impact.
