Interplast 2010, sixth edition of the National Trade Fair and Congress of Plastic Technology Integration, takes place August 23-27, in the two pavilions of Expoville, in Joinville/SC. Held every two years by Messe Brasil Feiras e Promoções, Interplast brings together exhibitions of processing machinery and equipment, auxiliary devices and raw materials, and Cintec 2010 Plastics debates issues of environment and process management, and CAM Software, competition and a seminar to promote the mold and dye industry as well as knowledge about the technologies and processes. Thus, the event combines theory and practice in a single location in order to develop the plastics industry in Brazil.
Interplast is one of the largest plastic fairs in occupied space and number of exhibitors, held in Brazil in 2010 and the largest of this sector in the southern region. The number of exhibitors grew by 25% compared to 2008, totaling 500 companies. The fair will occupy an area of 20,000 square meters, 12% higher than in 2008.
Interplast is a benchmark for solutions and alternatives for the modernization of manufacturing facilities in the southern region and gathers together leading companies from domestic and international markets, bringing what is the most modern in the technological area of the plastics’ chain, from raw material to compounds, pigments, peripherals, tooling and machinery in general. In addition to companies representing all Brazilian states, the event unites exhibitors from 12 other countries – Austria, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Canada, USA, China, Japan, Taiwan, Argentina and Africa.
Joinville concentrates its position as one of the main centers for plastics processors in the country and a national leader in the processing of PVC. The state of Santa Catarina has the highest production of plastic products in relation to the total economy across all states. In absolute terms, it is second only to São Paulo. Three segments stand out nationally: civil construction products for the region of Joinville, disposables in the region of Criciuma and packaging, which is more spread throughout the State, with a significant presence in the West, South and greater Florianopolis.
Santa Catarina has 900 plastic processing companies, which account for 33,000 jobs and an annual revenue in 2009 of close to R$ 8 billion. Annual production volume is 1.1 million tons. Sao Paulo has a production that is around 2.6 million tons per year.
The organizers estimate that the number of visitors to Interplast will exceed the 25,000 industry professionals who were at the fair in 2008. "The constant innovation and industry growth in the market make the search for new technologies and knowledge a constant concern for industries and professionals and the demand should be even larger in 2010 with the recovery of the economy," said Richard Spirandelli, Marketing Manager of Messe Brasil.
The sector’s estimated growth, indicated by the Brazilian Plastic Industry Association (Abiplast), is 6% in 2010, equaling the numbers achieved in 2008, before the economic crisis. According to Merheg Cachum, president of Abiplast, fairs such as Interplast are excellent business opportunities for the processing industry. "The show brings together exhibitors from the same segment, allowing them to evaluate the resources available in the market and what is more advantageous for the production process of each organization, facilitating the choice of suppliers," he comments.
