Amanco Brazil change its name to Mexichem Brazil and accelerates its growth in 2011 .

14/03/2011

Mexichem Brazil also includes other Mexichem´s companies in Brazil: Bidim, Plastubos and Doutores da Construção.

Amanco Brazil is now part of Mexichem, a group of Mexican chemical and petrochemical companies, and the Latin American leader in the supply chain of fluoride and vynil chloride. This unification is the pinnacle of an integration process that has been gradually occurring over the latest years.

In 2007, Mexichem entered the largest market of pipes and fittings in Latin America by acquiring Grupo Amanco. That same year, the group also acquired Plastubos, also a manufacturer of pipes and fittings in Brazil, expanding its activities in this sector. In 2008, Mexichem bought Bidim, another brazilian company and leader in the market of nonwoven geotextiles.

According to Marise Barroso, who was in charge of those companies and now became the president of Mexichem Brazil, the creation of this new company is part of an overall corporate strategy of Mexichem to verticallly integrate its supply chain, with the aim of meeting the needs of the chemical industry through its trademarks, both in its relationships with corporate clients and  with final consumers,. "This change also helps to accelerate growth and strengthen the Group's operations in Brazil," said Marise.

Trademarks and their strategies will be maintained. The three trademarks – Amanco, Plastubos, and Bidim - had a substantial growth in 2010 and, if all their sales are put together, they correspond to a growth of 18% in comparison with 2009, while the annual increase in sales in the sector of basic materials for construction was only 9.28%, according to Abramat (Brazilian Association of Construction Materials).

According to Marise Barroso, the unification of Mexichem´s enterprises under a single company will be beneficial both for consumers and employees. The management will also be facilitated. "We will have significant gains in operational efficiency, and the employees will have gains in terms of employability and benefits."

Perspectives
Mexichem Brazil plans to invest $ 148 million in 2011. The figure includes a 20% increase in production capacity of factories, development of new products, publicity of trademarks in the media and at the retail sales sites, as well as in professional training.

Net sales of Mexichem Brazil last year were U.S $ 946 million, an increase of 18%, when compared to 2009. The company reported an EBITDA (earnings before depreciation, amortization, interest and taxes) exceeding the previous year by 20% and with a 14% increase in production volume.

"The results exceeded our initial expectations and are the fruit of our business strategy based on the concept of triple results (economical, social and environmental). Moreover, the construction sector is very hot and the three trademarks - Amanco,  Plastubos, and Bidim - gained market share, "said Marise Barroso.
