Chambroad´s Mr. Zang at Chinaplas 2026: "Transparent Polypropylene is one of our key products"
Chambroad´s Polyolefin Performance Materials Division is anchored in two primary industrial sectors: polypropylene resin, and polybutylene alloys. Driven by market forces and technological innovation, the company concentrates on the polymerization processes, specialized catalyst technologies, and in-depth research on materials processing and application techniques. Chambroad exhibited at Chinaplas 2026 in Shanghai, from April, 21 to 24. Mr. Yuntao Zang (photo above), General Manager at Shandong Chambroad Polyolefin Performance Materials Co., Ltd., delivered a presentation during a Press Conference at Chinaplas 2026 Media Day where he addressed the activities and plans of Chambroad in the Polyolefins sector.
Brazilianplastics.com had the opportunity to talk to Mr. Zang during the Media Day. The interview is below: Brazilianplastics.com - Can you tell us more about the properties, applications, and advantages of Chambroad's transparent PP? Mr. Zang - Transparent Polypropylene is one of our key products. So its key features include high transparency, high gloss and low haze. Its appearance is comparable to a traditional PET. So we can use it in (for example) food packaging, medical syringes, household items like food containers - this kind of application. As one of our flagship products, our transparent polypropylene boasts a monthly sales volume of around 20,000 tons, making us the number-one seller of transparent polypropylene in China. Brazilianplastics.com - As for the company's pipe materials, what are the main applications and differentials? Mr. Zang - Basically our pipe material has two major applications. One is our PPR piping grade: PA 14D. It meets the international drinking water standards, so it's has a design life of up to 50 years. And this kind of material offers very stable pressure and temperature resistances. It is specially suitable for urban water delivery systems. The second grade is our MPP (which) is a kind of power pipe grade (H2464), offering excellent tensile strength, and easy weldability. So it is easy to operate in construction conditions, making it ideal for underground installations. For MPP, the power pipe grade, it is required (from) the material high impact resistance, UV resistance, and, it is required (for) the material to have a long lifespan. So, we Chambroad, is one of the companies in China to research in this area. So we think it has a good future in market. Brazilianplastics.com - What is the current polyolefin's production capacity of Chambroad? Are there plans for expansion? Mr. Zang - Currently, we have 2 production lines: one is 200,000 tons per year, and the 2nd one is 400,000 tons per year. And about the expansion of our production, we will need to discuss it with other of our Chinese friends in this industry, to discuss it further in the future. So maybe we will need to expand our production capability because we are interested in exploring our business outside of China. So, it's still a question. We'll discuss this later.
Brazilianplastics.com - Can you tell us more about Chambroad's, chemical recycling process for PP? Do you use a pyrolysis process? How do you get to separate the materials or you just use the pyrolysis oil for generating new resins? Mr. Zang - Currently we buy pyrolysis oil from other companies because we don't have the cracking units. But, we are thinking to build cracking units later. We (will) collect waste plastic and crack it to (obtain) pyrolysis oil. And then make (the) monomer and polymerize it to make resins. Brazilianplastics.com - Regarding Chambroad's research and development activities, could you describe your current capabilities and projects in pipeline ? Mr. Zang - Some of the projects are still under development. We are right now cooperating with downstream clients to develop medical polypropylene to use in the medical sector, like medical syringes. Another one is: we are planning to develop a pipe grade that can be used in power generation (to make power cables). The third one is a kind of transparent impact copolymer (that) can be used in the packaging business. And the fourth one that we are planning to make is a kind of CPP (cast polypropylene film) with low moisture permeability and excellent barrier properties to better preserve food freshness.
