Large order from Cortizo underpins partnership with battenfeld-cincinnati

battenfeld-cincinnati Vienna once again supplied a total of nine extruders to its long-standing customer Cortizo, headquartered in Padrón, including seven parallel and two conical counter-rotating twin-screw extruders.

March, 5, 2026 – With this order, Spain's largest profile manufacturer increased its number of PVC extrusion lines to a total of 28, only one of them being from outside Vienna.

The partnership with Cortizo began in 2014 when the company, which had previously specialized in aluminium profiles, purchased its first line in Vienna and began producing PVC profiles. Cortizo now processes 50,000 tons of PVC per year into profiles - further growth is planned.

With an annual production output of 150,000 tons of aluminium profiles and 50,000 tons per year of PVC profiles, Cortizo is one of Europe's leading profile manufacturers. The company employs over 3,800 people across nine European production centers and records sales in 87 countries. The profiles are mainly produced for the domestic market in Spain and for Europe. A total of 30 extruders from Vienna produce window and door profiles in Spain in various designs in terms of geometry and color. Over the past ten years, battenfeld-cincinnati has installed 17 twinEX extruders in sizes 78 and 93 as well as 13 conEX extruders in sizes 50, 54 and 65 at Cortizo. While nine conEXs function as main extruders, four are integrated into coextrusion lines. Here, the piggy-back version stands out in particular with its complete integration into the control system of the main extruder. Thanks to universal height and tilt adjustment, the coextruders can easily feed existing extrusion tools, battenfeld-cincinnati claims.

conEX is a flexible conical series that can process a range of different PVC types and can handle die pressures of up to 520 bar. The parallel twinEX units are characterized by a very large output range. This means that a wide variety of dies can be used on one machine, resulting in flexible machine utilization and production planning for the customer.

According to battenfeld-cincinnati, all of its extruders are characterized by a balanced ratio of mechanical and thermal energy input into the material. In conjunction with optimized screw geometries, this ensures melt quality over a wide output range, the company says. In the course of many years of cooperation with Cortizo, tailor-made screw geometries have been developed to ensure optimum processing of customer materials. The latest generation machine control system impresses with its intuitive operation and clear user interface. The machines can be easily integrated into the customer's ERP environment, battenfeld-cincinatti says.
