August, 5, 2026 - The competitiveness of the Brazilian PET packaging industry in light of new regulatory, technological, and environmental challenges will be a key topic at Interplast 2026 – the Plastic Technology Integration Fair and Congress. On August 27, the Brazilian Association of the PET Industry (ABIPET) will host the forum “PET: Competitiveness and Circularity in a Single Package,” bringing together experts, executives, and company representatives to discuss advances in the circular economy and the sector’s outlook.

The event will take place from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Girassol Room at the Expoville Convention and Exhibition Center in Joinville (Santa Catarina); registration is free, though space is limited. The program is part of the official Interplast schedule, underlining sustainability as a central theme of this year’s edition.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees will hear technical presentations on the chemical recycling of PET in Mercosur, the impact of the new Federal Plastics Decree on the industry, packaging circularity, the safety of post-consumer PET (PET-PCR), the development of packaging designed for the circular economy, and solid-state polymerization technologies for recycling bottle-grade PET. The event will conclude with a presentation by ABIPET Executive President Auri Marçon on the competitiveness and circularity of PET packaging in the current industrial landscape.

Confirmed speakers include representatives from companies and organizations directly involved in developing technologies, raw materials, and solutions for the sector—such as Gneuss, Valgroup, Indorama Ventures, Erema, Starlinger, and ABIPET itself—offering a comprehensive overview of innovation, legislation and sustainability in the sector, as well as market opportunities.

The forum takes place at a time of transformation for the packaging industry, driven by new regulatory requirements, increased use of recycled content, and the strengthening of reverse logistics. The program aims to showcase solutions already available to help packaging manufacturers, processors, recyclers, converters, and brand owners boost their competitiveness while enhancing material circularity.

Held from August 25 to 28 in Joinville, Interplast brings together the entire plastics industry supply chain—ranging from raw materials and finished products to machinery, equipment, molds, automation, recycling, and specialized services—cementing the event’s status as one of Latin America’s premier plastics industry gatherings.
